Gilliam & Company: Gilliam & Company is a strategic planning consultation company, specializing in retailing and consumer products. Gilliam also publishes a popular industry publication, “Viewpoint”. The final product was also to used as a mailer and sales tool for their sales force. 3Rings Media was retained to help organize the content and determine the most widely viewable way to distribute in terms of technology. We decided to produce a DVD with an easy to navigate front end using a complex back end. 3Rings also provided replication services in quantities of over 60,000.
Triage Entertainment: "Start Punching with Derek Panza" The Ultimate Basic Boxing Instruction & Workout program.
eClips - Devries Public Relations: Devries Public Relations wanted us to produce a three-minute Media Highlights Reel to support a campaign they were involved in with one of their pharmaceutical clients. The reel was to be duplicated onto VHS tapes which would accompany individual (approximately) 600-page books of printed media clippings. This strategy was challenging in that the books were costly to produce and weighed close to 20 pounds each. In addition, to view the Media Highlights Reel, there had to be a VHS player in the recipient's office. We suggested putting a digital video version of the Media Highlights Reel on a CD-ROM which could also contain a searchable .pdf with all the existing data they wished to distribute. The suggestion was well received by all. The result can be seen by clicking here. The same can be achieved using memory sticks - or other portable media - and online.
Lancome: Not only did Lancome's 2005 Season Opener represent a high standard in video production and programming but, to our knowledge, was also the first time full-screen Windows Media Video was able to be played from a CD-ROM at 30 frames per second. Unfortunately we cannot show the demo on our site because it was programmed specifically for Windows CD-ROM only, but here are images taken from the project. |
| INTERACTIVE VIDEO |
Gail Sheehy's Caregivers Interactive Video Questionnaire: In addition to filming, editing and programming the interactive video questionnaire, we provided Gail with the ability to gather the data, presented in 'spreadsheet' format on an admin area of her site, as well as a mechanism to download selected data in an editable .rtf document.
Double click on the image of Gail on her home page where it says, "Double Click to Play". |

LOOK BOOK 4:
Internet Marketing
Getting eyes on your content or product is the key to turning your website into a successful business tool. Internet marketing is, by far, the most cost-effective way to accomplish this.
Your potential customers are smarter than ever. You have to level with them and sometimes provide them with a platform. They are jaded by traditional marketing campaigns and consider them to be SPAM. Let's face it, what do you do when you receive a direct mail piece? Pour over it with rapt interest or add it to the recycling bin? What do you do when a commercial airs in the middle of your favorite TV show? Bask in the blue glow pouring over you or go make a sandwich?
Traditional mass media marketing campaigns are still a viable means of getting your message across, but with what is considered a successful response rate of 1%, you have to spend significant bucks to make back your investment. Internet Marketing costs a fraction of a traditional marketing campaign, but more importantly, allows people to easily 'discover' you, which is by far the most effective marketing you can do. It's easy to track visitors, their habits, what keywords they used to find you and an almost unlimited number of metrics indicating trends in your business.
In addition to achieving increased traffic and sales, discretion and confidentiality are central to the business philosophy at 3Rings Media. While the cases we share here are real in all aspects, the client names have been intentionally omitted out of respect for this trust and confidentiality. |

A global media database corporation
The Challenge
A global media database corporation sought to increase subscription sales for their database and mailing services. 3Rings Media was retained to help increase the volume of traffic to their web site to ultimately achieve this goal.
The Method
After initial consultation and analysis of the site, we suggested that a combination of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and SEM (Search Engine Marketing) would offer the best results for this company’s individual needs. As well as implementing various search engine optimization improvements to their site, our efforts mainly focused on devising an extensive SEM campaign relating to the services they offer in the public relations industry. The first step was to identify keywords relating to the public relations services. We then consulted with the client to pinpoint keywords that met with their concerns, and were especially important to their business. After this initial consultation we created a widespread search engine marketing campaign. Our involvement continued monthly by monitoring the campaign in order to assess the effectiveness of the keywords chosen, and improving the selection of keywords as the client’s page rank and revenue continued to rise.
Result
After running the SEM campaign for one month, the number of new visitors directed to the client’s web site nearly doubled, climbing from 560 per month to 1001 per month. In general, the number of visits from organic search jumped from 791 per month to 1253 per month—an increase of 58%. In addition, the number of visitors to the client’s web site each month increased 28% during the first three months after the site was optimized from approximately 9631 per month to a remarkable 12,331 per month. In just the first month, the ad listings placed on Google and Yahoo! Received over 220,000 impressions and 762 clicks. This increased dramatically the following month with the ads yielding a total of over 453,000 impressions and 1345 clicks. The comprehensive SEM campaign that was devised for our client was highly effective in attracting new business to their web site.
An established, media post-production company
The Challenge
An established, media post-production company sought to expand their abilities, adding High Definition graphics and editing to their repertoire. In their case, being established was a handicap in that, clients who had known them for years continued to think of them as offering only older technology. They retained 3Rings Media to help increase awareness of the new media services they offer.
The Method
After careful analysis it was determined that a combination of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and SEM (Search Engine Marketing) would deliver the optimal results our client needed. The first step was to work closely with the client to identify key terms relating to the media services they offered. We then revised copy within the site to better emphasize the relevance of these key terms and applied other optimization techniques. Through more in-depth analysis and extrapolation we identified valuable key terms important to their business and created a SEM campaign centering on these terms. At first, we focused the campaign on Google only, but after evaluating its success after three months, it was mutually agreed upon to expand the SEM campaign to also include Yahoo! in order to widen the reach of the campaign and attract more potential visitors to the site. We consistently monitored the traffic to the site in order to assess the effectiveness of our optimization strategies and we devised additional improvements as needed.
The Results
Before the marketing campaign began, the web site averaged 177 unique visitors and a total of only 298 visits per month. Within three months of optimization and beginning the SEM campaign for related key terms, the number of visitors directed to the web site through the Google search engine jumped from just 94 per month to 242 per month — an increase of over 157% — for both organic and paid search results. In addition, the number of new visitors to the site each month increased 270% during this period from approximately 181 per month to 671 per month. Meanwhile, the number of returning visitors to the site steadily increased as well during the first four months after the site was optimized. This case is another example of how the combination of SEO and SEM is highly effective in attracting both new and returning customers to a web site.
A best selling author
The Challenge
In January 2006, a New York Times best selling author released a new book. It started off well, reaching a high position of #14 on the Barnes and Noble Sales Ranking. However, after six weeks of being on the New York Times bestseller list, the book had dropped to a position of #455 in Barnes & Noble Sales Ranking. 3Rings Media’s specialists were retained to boost sales of the book, particularly through the Barnes and Noble web site.
The Method
After an initial review of the situation, it was decided that immediate results were necessary, so efforts became focused exclusively on devising a comprehensive SEM campaign relating to the subject of the book. The 3Rings Media brand of thoughtful analysis provided a low cost, high yield list of related key terms, which were bid on at both Google and Yahoo!
Result
Two days after beginning the campaign, sales of the book had climbed steadily upward. At the end of the second day it had rebounded to a position of # 105 on the Barnes & Noble Sales Ranking. While this campaign, based exclusively on SEM, was very effective in its goal of immediate results, for optimal results and long-term benefits, 3Rings Media recommends a combination of SEO and SEM where possible.
A retail cosmetics company
The Challenge
A startup retail cosmetics company was seeking to generate awareness for their new presence and products on the web. The 3Rings team was brought in to help.
The Method
Aside from the obvious goal of increasing awareness and revenue, the most important issue was to be able to track the effectiveness of the campaign. Did new customers respond to the marketing campaign? Where did they come from? It was decided to launch a radio ad campaign on a local Top-3 morning radio program in New York City. The ad directed listeners to the client's website and contained a key word that a customer would type into a "Coupon Box" on the Check Out page to receive a discount. 3Rings wrote, directed and produced the ad in our in-house studio in one day, including providing original music.
Result
The ad campaign wildly successful - ultimately accounting for an increase of 30% to the client's revenue during the first two months the spots ran. The 30% was completely trackable via the use of the key word in the spot. The campaign eventually went viral with friends posting on sites about the company and offer and the percentage grew even more. We recently went national with the campaign and the percentages continue to climb. |
